Everton are closing in on a deal to sign the young right-back from Rangers and the move is expected to go through soon.

An agreement is in place between the two clubs that would see Rangers earn £10m plus add-ons from the 20-year-old’s move to Merseyside.

But the Glasgow giants are set to earn much more than the stated figure if the proposed add-ons kick in through Patterson’s performances at Ibrox.

It has been claimed that the proposed deal could touch £16m if Patterson becomes a success at Goodison Park.

Rangers have been reluctant to lose the player but the money on offer from Everton was too good for the Ibrox side to turn down.

The right-back already has six caps for Scotland but has only featured 27 times in the Rangers senior team.

He arrived on Merseyside on Monday to undergo a medical and sign a contract with Everton.
