Spurs handed Etete a new contract in August and sent him out on loan to League Two side Northampton in the last window on a season-long loan.

The striker has been a key player for the Cobblers this season but is currently sidelined owing to an injury.

Etete is back at Hotspur Way where he has been receiving medical care and he is now set to not return to the Sixfields Stadium for the remainder of the season.

Spurs are gearing up to recall Etete from his loan spell at Northampton this month and then send him out on a temporary spell to Cheltenham.

The Robins play in League One and would provide Etete with a step up in competition compared to his spell at Northampton.

Etete played a part in 18 league games for Northampton this season and will be hoping for more regular action if he seals a move to Whaddon Road in this window.

The 20-year-old is on the road to recovery and is likely to get back on the pitch this season in Cheltenham colours when he returns from injury.
