The Serie A giants have a deal in place to sign the midfielder on loan from Arsenal for the rest of the season.

Roma have agreed to pay a loan fee of €500,000 to the Gunners and another €500,000 in add-ons based on his performances at the Stadio Olimpico.

Maitland-Niles will undergo a medical today in London before travelling to Italy to complete the formalities of the loan move.

According to Italian daily Il Messaggero, the Serie A giants are pushing to get the deal over the line and have him registered in time to have him in the squad against Juventus on Sunday.

With the United Kingdom no longer part of the European Union, getting him a work permit is likely to be a lengthier process than in previous years.

Maitland-Niles will take one of the limited non-EU spots in the Roma squad alongside fellow countryman Tammy Abraham for the rest of the season.

But the Giallorossi are trying to rush through the process in time for the player to make his debut against Juventus.

Jose Mourinho has been championing the club’s pursuit of Maitland-Niles due to his ability to play in multiple positions.
