Everton have flattered to deceive this season under Rafael Benitez and are languishing 15th in the Premier League table.

They have won just one of their last 12 Premier League games and serious questions are being raised over the future of the Spaniard at Everton for the moment.

Campbell has been disappointed at the scatter-gun approach Everton have shown in appointing managers and bringing in players over the last few years.

He stressed that the strategy has clearly failed to work and Everton are now regressing as a football club.

The former Toffee wants to see the Merseyside club stick to a certain plan and build a team that will fight for the badge on the pitch.

Campbell said on talkSPORT: “At the end of the day, a line has to be drawn in the sand and say right from this point moving forward our plan is X and stick to it.

“This scatter-gun situation that has been happening with different managers and different players, it clearly hasn’t worked because the club are getting worse.

“So, if it’s going to be youth, buy into youth, get young players in, get young midfielders in and get talented attackers who are going to fight for the club.

“One thing I can tell you about Everton and that football club, if the team on the pitch are fighting, the fanbase will back the performances.

“But when they see inept performances and no fight, there will be unrest.”

Everton will be in FA Cup action when they take on Hull City on Saturday in the third round of the competition.
