Digne wants to quit Everton this month after falling out with boss Rafael Benitez and the Toffees are happy to sell him.

Chelsea, Newcastle United and West Ham are all keen on Digne, but it is Aston Villa who are now in pole position to complete the signing of the France international.

Digne has accepted the personal terms being offered at Villa Park and is ready to make the move to play under Steven Gerrard.

He has agreed to sign a long-term deal at Aston Villa, with the club now hopeful of completing a £25m swoop.

Everton have been looking for £30m to let Digne move on, but £25m may represent a compromise figure to ease the player’s exit.

Digne will join Philippe Coutinho at Aston Villa, with the Brazilian arriving on a loan from Barcelona.

Shifting Digne off the books meanwhile could make space for further new arrivals at Everton, where Benitez remains keen to refresh his squad.
