Itten originally went on loan to the German club for the duration of the season as he searched for game-time.

However, both Greuther Furth and Itten have endured a tough first-half of the season with the team finding themselves bottom of the Bundesliga table.

Itten, meanwhile, has started just seven games for the German outfit in the league and has been benched for the last two games.

As such, Rangers are going to cut short Itten’s Greuther Furth spell, according to German magazine Kicker.

Greuther Furth have won just one Bundesliga game all season and they are currently eleven points below 17th placed Arminia Bielefeld.

The striker has scored two times for the German team, including one against table-toppers Bayern Munich, but his last goal came in October.

It remains to be seen whether the Gers decide to loan the striker out for the remainder of the season or keep him as an attacking option in their title hunt.
