Spence is currently plying his trade at Championship side Nottingham Forest on a season-long loan deal from league rivals Middlesbrough.

The 21-year-old has strung together a number of eye-catching performances for the Tricky Trees this term, and has established himself a regular in the first team.

Spence’s performances for Forest have also seen him attract interest from the Premier League where Leeds and Arsenal are firm admirers of his qualities.

However, the pair now have competition as Tottenham are keen on the right-back and are considering making a move for him this month.

Spurs have been closely tracking the Boro starlet’s progress over recent seasons and are happy with his improvement.

They now want to strike a deal with Middlesbrough for Spence before the ongoing window slams shut but any deal for him would see him continue to feature for Forest for the remainder of the season

Having already played for both Middlesbrough and Forest this season, Spence will have to remain at City Ground until the end of his current loan spell.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs will manage to secure the signature of the Boro starlet ahead of the likes of Arsenal and Leeds.
