The Magpies have identified centre-back as a priority position that needs bolstering in the ongoing window and their hierarchy are in talks with a number of targets on their transfer radar.

It has been claimed that Newcastle contacted German side Augsburg over a move for their defender Uduokhai this month.

However, the 24-year-old has revealed he has not received any offers from potential suitors in the ongoing window and insists he is not interested in leaving Augsburg mid-season.

“I haven’t received an offer and I’m absolutely not interested”, Uduokhai told a press conference when asked about the transfer talk.

Uduokhai added that he has other commitments at Augsburg that he needs to concentrate on and he is not bothered about the transfer chatter surrounding him.

“We have other tasks at Augsburg that we have to concentrate on.

“That [the transfer chatter] is not an issue for me at all.”

Sevilla’s Diego Carlos has emerged as Newcastle’s top centre-back target, but the Tyneside giants are finding hit hard to strike a deal with the La Liga giants for him.
