Bakinson is well on the way to joining the Tractor Boys on a loan this window as he has fallen out of favour recently at Ashton Gate.

The midfielder has made ten starts for the Robins this term in the league but has featured only twice for them in the Championship since December.

Ipswich want to improve their midfield options this window as they currently sit in mid-table in the League One standings and aiming to push into the playoff spots.

Bakinson will join on loan, but the two clubs have held talks over an option to buy being included in the deal.

The Blues are believed to be obliged to pay a contribution to the midfielder’s wages as part of his loan switch to Portman Road.

Bakinson’s contract at Ashton Gate runs until the end of next season but he could leave the Robins for the Blues before that time.

The midfielder joined Bristol City in the summer of 2017 but only got his breakthrough for the Robins last season, making 34 appearances in the Championship.
