Lingard is keen on joining Newcastle United on loan this month, but the Magpies have so far refused to accept Manchester United’s terms to let him leave.

A move for the Red Devil to Newcastle is looking more unlikely as the clock ticks down on the January transfer window.

However, the possibility of Lingard remaining at Old Trafford has made a positive impact on Crystal Palace’s efforts to snap up his Manchester United team-mate Van de Beek.

Red Devils interim boss Ralf Rangnick is reluctant to be left shorthanded by allowing multiple senior players to leave on loan this month.

And with Lingard likely to remain at the club, it has boosted Van de Beek’s chances of securing a move away to Selhurst Park.

The Dutchman has struggled for regular game at Manchester United but Eagles boss Patrick Vieira sees him perfectly fitting into his style of football.

Crystal Palace and Manchester United are in talks over Van de Beek and a deal is tipped to go through if both clubs can agree on a loan fee.
