It had been suggested that the Red Devils could send the promising winger out on loan and they have found the club they feel to be the right fit in the shape of Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s Rangers.

Diallo will join Rangers on loan, until the end of the current campaign, to bolster the Gers’ options.

Rangers will not have an option to buy included in the loan agreement.

However, the deal will still be seen as a coup, with Diallo regarded as a bright talent in world football and now at the disposal of Gers boss Van Bronckhorst.

Manchester United splashed the cash to sign him from Italian side Atalanta.

He has struggled for playing time at Old Trafford though and will now be looking to gain experience in the cut and thrust of a Scottish Premiership title race.

Red Devils boss Ralf Rangnick approved the loan and it is set to be completed in the coming hours.
