Anjorin has spent the first half of the season on loan at Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow but is expected to return to Stamford Bridge.

His decision is believed to stem from the fact that current Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has left the Russian club.

Lokomotiv had the option of triggering a £17m option to buy clause in the starlet’s contract but they did not exercise it.

Now, the Saints are hoping to secure the services of the young midfielder on a permanent basis this window.

Many Championship clubs are keen on taking the starlet on loan for the rest of the season and Chelsea are in favour of that option.

However, the Saints are insistent and hope to secure his signature this window; the youngster has made nine appearances this season for the Russian club.

It is expected that if the Saints fail in their attempt this month they will be back in the summer to get the signing over the line.
