The Croatian defender has 18 months left on his contract and has been linked with a move away from Marseille this month.
West Ham have been tracking him since last summer and are interested in taking him to the London Stadium on loan with an option to buy in the ongoing window.
But the two clubs are reportedly far away from working out an agreement and it has been claimed that there is more interest in Caleta-Car from the Premier League.
According to French sports daily L’Equipe, Wolves and another Premier League club are interested in getting their hands on the Croatian.
Wolves are about to move Adama Traore to Barcelona and could have funds to spend in the final days of the window.
There is still no clarity over the identity of the third Premier League club but there is a good chance that the Croatian could end up in England before Monday’s transfer deadline.
David Moyes is keen to add a centre-back to the squad and it remains to be seen whether West Ham fork out the money needed to sign the Marseille centre-back in the next three days.
