The former Derby County boss is set to take the reins at Everton, replacing Rafael Benitez, who was shown the exit door owing to a poor run of results in the Premier League.
Everton’s hierarchy conducted interviews with a number of the top candidates on their shortlist on managerial candidates and finally settled on Lampard, to help the climb as far away as possible from the relegation zone.
Lampard is in the process of assembling a backroom staff to aid him as he returns to Premier League management.
Chelsea assistant Joe Edwards, Chris Jones, Lampard’s former colleagues at Derby are both set to link up with him on Merseyside while Paul Clement is set to assist him in his new job.
And the 43-year-old also is considering former Blues and England team-mate Cole to support him on a coaching capacity at his new club.
Lampard is also keen on having Everton interim boss Duncan Ferguson become a part of his backroom staff at Goodison Park.
On the transfer front, the incoming Everton boss is understood to have played a key role in bringing in Donny van de Beek from Manchester United, with the player on the brink of sealing a deadline day loan move to Goodison Park.
