Newcastle have been desperate to sign a centre-back during this month’s transfer window and achieved a breakthrough by agreeing a fee with Brighton for Burn.
The defender was happy to head to the north east and is joining to give Eddie Howe further options at the back.
And it has emerged he will sign a contract running until the summer of 2024 with the Magpies, with an option for a further year to be triggered.
He will look to hit the ground running and help Howe’s side to move away from the Premier League relegation zone over the coming weeks.
Burn, 29, has made 16 appearances across all competitions for Brighton this season, picking up four yellow cards along the way.
While primarily a centre-back, Burn is also able to operate as a left-back, which will further help Howe.
He has significant Premier League experience, having turned out 83 times in the top flight.
