Caleta-Car has been linked with the Hammers from all the way back in the summer and speculation was persistent this month as well.
The Hammers held talks with Marseille over signing Caleta-Car and it did appear that a deal was there to be done.
The Hammers’ star centre-back Angelo Ogbonna has been ruled out for the rest of the season and manager David Moyes was said to be on the hunt for more cover.
Caleta-Car is not in the plans of the Hammers today though as the deadline approaches and they will most likely not be be making a move.
The Hammers are intent on keeping intact their current backline as they aim to make the top four this season.
As such they have refused an offer from Newcastle United for centre-back Issa Diop and he will be at the London Stadium for the rest of the season.
Caleta-Car’s contract with the Ligue 1 club ends next summer and it remains to be seen whether the Hammers carry over their interest to the next window.
