Gil joined the Lilywhites from Sevilla last summer in a part-exchange deal involving Erik Lamela, who headed in the opposite direction.

However, he is not currently an integral part of Antonio Conte’s plans and has thus been sent out to Spain in order to get more first-team minutes under his belt.

Gil was keen to return to La Liga after failing to settle at Tottenham and believes at Valencia he can continue to develop as a player and gain in experience.

“I hope to grow as a player and contribute to the maximum for the coach and the team”, Gil told Valencia’s official site.

“I want to gain a little more experience and work hard.”

The Spanish winger is also a fan of the way that Valencia coach Bordalas operates and thinks he will feel the benefit of playing under the Los Che boss.

“One of the reasons why I have come here is the style of Bordalas and how he competes.

“I think it will help me a lot.”

Gil struggled for playing time at Tottenham under Antonio Conte and the jury is out on whether he has a long term future at the club or will depart again in the summer.
