The Yorkshire giants did not make a signing for their senior squad over the course of the window, despite injuries having bitten throughout the season so far.
Leeds did have options to strengthen though and through intermediaries were offered Van de Beek.
The Dutch midfielder has moved on loan from Manchester United to Everton, where he will play under Frank Lampard.
But Leeds were offered the chance to take Van de Beek on loan earlier in the January transfer window.
The Elland Road side though came to the conclusion that Van de Beek was not an ideal fit and did not move to sign him, with the Dutchman moving to Everton, a team just two points and one place below Leeds in the table.
Leeds fans will be hoping their decision not to sign a senior player in the transfer window does not come back to bite them.
The Whites sit eight points above the drop zone in the Premier League table, but three of the teams below them have at least one game in hand.
Everton play Leeds on 12th February and the Whites could come up against Van de Beek.
