Sunderland are on the prowl for a new man at the helm, having shown Lee Johnson the exit door owing to a poor run of results in League One, that saw them drop out of the automatic promotion places.
The Black Cats played their latest League One game without a manager and lost 2-1 to league bottom side Doncaster Rovers, while they are now gearing up to face Cheltenham tonight.
Sunderland’s latest loss in the absence of a manager has seen the club’s board and players be on the receiving end of criticism from some fans, but Robins boss Duff has insisted his team cannot focus on the situation at the Stadium of Light.
Duff admitted Sunderland are in a state of flux at present as they continue their manager hunt, but insisted they are still a very good team.
“They’ve just lost back-to-back and they’re still fourth in the League which shows you what a strong position they are in”, Duff was quoted as saying by Cheltenham’s official site.
“We know what they’re all about.
“They beat us 5-0 earlier in the season.
“There is a little bit of upheaval in terms of losing the manager.
“We can’t worry too much about Sunderland.
“We know they’re a really good team, we know they’ve got some very good players and we know about the size of the club as well.
“The league table tells you they are a good team and their result against us earlier in the season tells you they’re a good team.
“The table tells its own story.”
Sunderland hammered Cheltenham 5-0 earlier this season and fans will be hoping they will get another positive result, having only registered one win in their last six league outings.
