Lenglet has been a bit-part player at Barcelona this season and has only been involved in 18 out of the 41 games the club have played.

The Frenchman still has more than four years left on his contract, but he is down the pecking order of defenders at the Nou Camp.

Newcastle wanted him in January and are weighing up another approach in the summer transfer window, when they are again expected to be active.

Barcelona are open to selling him, but according to Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo, the defender does not want to leave the club.

Lenglet wants to stay on and fight for a place in Xavi Hernandez’s team next season as well.

With a number of years left on his deal, the Frenchman believes he can force his way into Xavi’s thinking over the summer.

However, Barcelona are in talks to sign Andreas Christensen on a free transfer and his arrival is likely to further diminish Lenglet’s opportunities.

The Frenchman is aware that he is likely to get even fewer minutes next season if the club sign the Chelsea defender in the coming months.

Lenglet wants to stay at the Nou Camp but is also keen to play more football going forward.
