The Brazilian is in the final 18 months of his current deal at Villa Park and the Lions are keen on extending his stint.

Luiz is a fixture under Steven Gerrard at the Midlands club, starting 24 games for them in the Premier League so far this season.

But, as it stands, the 23-year-old is looking increasingly likely to part ways with Aston Villa in the forthcoming window.

Negotiations over a new deal for Luiz are yet to progress, which has further cast doubt on his future at Villa Park.

Gerrard’s side are exploring the possibility of bringing in a replacement for Luiz in the summer and have several names on their transfer radar, including Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips and Brighton & Hove Albion man Yves Bissouma.

However, Aston Villa’s chances of getting their hands on Phillips are looking bleak as he is prepared to sign a new deal at Elland Road.

But Brighton are open to listening to offers for Bissouma in the summer, as he will enter the final year of his contract following this season.
