Morelos has been ruled out of Rangers’ Old Firm clash against Celtic today and he will miss the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie against Braga next week as well.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst revealed that Rangers will have a better idea about the forward’s injury after the weekend, but Ferguson conceded that the fact that Morelos was spotted in crutches is not good news.
He feels it could be a major long-term problem and is worried that Rangers’ top striker could miss the rest of the season, which will have a major impact on the club’s hopes of retaining the league title.
The Rangers legend said on the Go Radio Football Show: “I have had thigh injuries, but when you are on crutches that tells me it’s a serious thigh problem he has got.
“And when you hear the manager speak there, it could be a long-term. That tells me it could be for the rest of the season.
“I hope not as Rangers have got so many important games and he is such an important player but we just need to wait and see over the next couple of weeks.”
Morelos has scored 19 times this season in all competitions and has been a huge player for Rangers over the last few years.
