The Reds managed to maintain pressure on Premier League leaders Manchester City in the title race with another win at the weekend against relegation candidates Watford.

However, despite bagging all three points, many felt Liverpool’s performance was lacking at times, with the likes of Salah struggling to make an impact.

Liverpool legend Aldridge stressed that Salah’s body language was not right against the Hornets and feels it is the winger’s worst performance in a long time for the club.

Salah returned to Anfield following an international break in which he failed to qualify for the forthcoming World Cup with Egypt, while his contract negotiations at Liverpool have also been dragging on, but Aldridge stressed he cannot let off-field issues affect his performances.

“I’m looking at Mo [Salah] – his body language at the weekend wasn’t great”, Aldridge wrote in his Liverpool Echo column.

“I might be wrong, but mentally for me he wasn’t there.

“He’s paid by Liverpool Football Club and he can’t let the disappointment of not going to the World Cup affect him.

“Whether it was that or the contract dispute, I think everyone would agree with me that his head wasn’t at Anfield on Saturday.

“Subsequently I thought it was the worst game that I’ve seen him play in a long time.

“Whether it was something else that we don’t know about, I don’t know.”

Fans will be hoping Salah will get back to his rampant best soon as Liverpool continue their quest for an unprecedented quadruple.
