Since succeeding Bielsa at Elland Road in late February, Marsch and his support staff have been working hard to instil his own playing philosophy across all levels of football at Leeds.

The Whites man-marked their opposition under Bielsa, and it is one of several key characteristics Marsch wants to move away from as he continues to mould his new team to his style.

Ex-Leeds defender Dorigo revealed that Whites hitman said that the American’s style of closing down the opposition is like throwing a net over them.

Dorigo added that Leeds under Marsch are more compact as a unit while having possession and they hunt the ball down in packs, which is a far cry from the one-on-one system they had under Bielsa.

“We look closer together when we have the ball and, the way we hunt the ball down, in packs, is different to the one-on-one system we had”, Dorigo wrote in his Yorkshire Evening Post column.

“Bamford was saying it’s like throwing a net over the opposition.

“When the right-back gets the ball and takes a touch or two, suddenly there are two or three players coming in to close down his options.”

Leeds are back on the road in the Premier League at the weekend and will travel to Vicarage Road to take on fellow relegation candidates Watford in a crunch clash.
