The Magpies have struggled with injury this term as stars such as Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier have been out for the long haul, while Allan Saint-Maximin also missed out on games recently.

Saint-Maximin played the full 90 minutes for the first time since mid-February last weekend, but the game proved to be disastrous for the Magpies.

Newcastle were thrashed 5-1 by Spurs but the negative result may not be the only thing that will have the Tyneside club looking at the game with regret.

Willock came out of the game with a knee problem and is subsequently at risk of missing the home match against Wolves this weekend.

The midfielder has played the full 90 minutes in four of the Magpies’ last five games and his absence would be another blow to boss Eddie Howe.

Wolves come into Friday’s game having won three out of their last four matches while the Magpies have lost three times on the bounce.

Trippier is also out for the clash but there is hope that he will return to the squad before April if further results of test scans on his broken foot are positive.
