Leeds have picked up seven points from their last three league games and are sitting 16th in the Premier League standings.

While the Whites are not completely out of danger, they have managed to put distance between themselves and the drop zone for now.

Ashton conceded that Leeds might not have picked up the desired results consistently, but stressed that he has seen enough to believe that the Whites are going to survive in the Premier League this season.

The former striker believes if Leeds beat Watford their survival could be more or less guaranteed and insisted that Jesse Marsch’s side have definitely shown more fighting qualities than Everton.

Ashton said on talkSPORT’s GameDay podcast: “I have seen enough from Leeds.

“I know they haven’t quite picked up the results they probably would have liked to, but I have seen enough in them to believe in them.

“They are another one of those sides where another win and that just gives you enough.

“I have been there in the bottom three, if Watford get beat by Leeds then that’s it.

“I just see a little bit more fight in Leeds than in the likes of Everton.”

Marsch has stressed the importance of taking each game as it comes in their side’s bid to avoid relegation.
