Liverpool are a point behind Manchester City going into the big game at the Etihad this weekend and the clash could be crucial in deciding where the title ends up.

The Reds are desperate to win and leapfrog Manchester City in the league table as the number of games remaining dwindles.

Manchester City have not lost a home league game against Liverpool since 2015 and Ashton believes their good record against the Reds gives them a slight edge ahead of the game.

He feels Liverpool have to take the initiative on Sunday and admitted that Salah’s form should be a concern for Jurgen Klopp’s side given that he has not scored from open play in ten games in all competitions.

The former striker said on talkSPORT’s GameDay Podcast: “City haven’t lost to Liverpool in the Premier League since 2015.

“They have got a good record at home against Liverpool and I think it’s all for Liverpool to do.

“And Salah’s form is slightly worrying, you’d have to say.

“He scored one in his last nine in all competitions for club and country and that was a penalty.

“And he scored ten games ago twice, and they were both penalties.

“So he has not scored from open play in his last ten games in all competitions.”

Salah has still managed to hit the net 28 times in 38 games in all competitions this season and scored against Manchester City earlier in the campaign.
