Zouma has already been ruled out for West Ham’s second leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie at Lyon on Thursday night due to an ankle injury.

The Frenchman will undergo further scans on his injured ankle soon, but the early indications are not good for the defender and the Hammers.

West Ham are afraid that the defender will not play again this season due to the injury he suffered against Brentford.

The Hammers are wary that the Frenchman will not play any role in their pursuit of European glory this term.

Losing Zouma will add to David Moyes’ problems at the back with West Ham already missing Angelo Ogbonna due to a season-ending knee injury.

West Ham are still in the race to finish in the top six of the Premier League as well and are currently short of defenders.

The injury to Zouma means Moyes will have to trust his second-choice centre-back pairing of Craig Dawson and Issa Diop.
