The 24-year-old midfielder has made an instant impact since joining Newcastle from Lyon in the winter transfer window.

In a short period of time, he has become indispensable for Eddie Howe’s Newcastle side and has already become a cult hero amongst the fans.

Newcastle are confident that the midfielder will be the fulcrum of their side as they look to develop into one of the super clubs of Europe through the backing of Saudi funds.

But it has been claimed that one of the current super clubs already have their eyes on the Brazilian as according to Spanish daily AS, he has popped up on the radar of Real Madrid.

Real Madrid signed Eduardo Camavinga last summer and are expected to bring in younger midfielders in the next few windows as they seek to replace an ageing midfield.

The club are keen to earmark a replacement for Casemiro, 30, and they have laid their eyes on Guimaraes.

Real Madrid have taken note of the little time the midfielder has taken to adapt to the Premier League and seamlessly fit into the Newcastle side.

Newcastle are unlikely to let him go in the summer and are likely to demand a huge fee if Real Madrid come calling.

However, the Spanish giants have added Guimaraes to their list of players they are keen to watch in the future.
