The 22-year-old winger has been on loan at Championship side Birmingham City since last summer and has featured 19 times in the league for the club.
His current deal at Old Trafford was set to expire in the summer but the Dutchman confirmed that Manchester United have taken up the option to extend his contract for one more year.
Chong insisted that his primary goal is still to make it at Manchester United before considering any other options.
He claimed that in his conversations with technical director Darren Fletcher it has emerged that the club are happy with the way he has developed at the Championship side.
The winger insisted that Manchester United are keen to see him during pre-season preparations under a new manager.
Chong told Dutch magazine Voetbal International: “The thought has always been to succeed at Manchester United.
“If that doesn’t work then it has to be at the highest level possible. What that will be is yet to become apparent.
“In any case, the confidence is there.
“They have taken up the option on my contract, they see all my games and in the conversations, I have had with Darren Fletcher, it appears they are satisfied with my development.
“They really want me to join them for pre-season preparations.”
Chong missed a considerable part of the season due to a groin injury but has remained a key part of the Birmingham squad.
