Ten points from 12 available in their last four league outings have seen Leeds build an eight-point cushion over the drop zone, although they are still not guaranteed Premier League survival.

The Whites are currently on 33 points, seven adrift of the widely-acknowledged 40-point safety mark with six games remaining in the season.

However, ex-Leeds hitman Beckford believes that the Yorkshire giants will avoid relegation this season, which will then allow them to focus on rebuilding the squad and player recruitment over the summer.

Beckford added that relegation-threatened teams might only need 35 points to ensure their safety this term, a tally Leeds are just two points shy of at present

“This season I do not think 40 points is going to be reached to get to a point of safety”, Beckford said on the Official Leeds United Podcast.

“I think it would be around about 35-ish points mark.

“But look, by the end of the season, I have no doubts that we are going to be in the Premier League, we are going to be a Premier League side.

“And we can focus again on the summer, rebuilding, getting a couple of reinforcements in and then really implementing Jesse [Marsch’s], his style of playing, what he wants to do.”

Leeds are gearing up for a trip to the capital on Monday to take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in the Premier League.
