The 22-year-old defender will enter the final year of his contract at Freiburg in the summer and has been heavily linked with a move away from the club.
Newcastle have been keeping tabs on him for several months and have been expected to make a move for him in the next transfer window, while he is on Tottenham’s list for the summer as they try to sign a new centre-back.
Schlotterbeck recently claimed that he will only think about his future at the end of the season but it has been claimed that a move has already been lined up.
According to German daily Bild, Dortmund are almost certain to sign the centre-back in the summer transfer window.
A deal worth €20m has been more or less agreed between Dortmund and Freiburg for his transfer.
Bayern Munich made a late offer to Schlotterbeck, proposing more money than Dortmund, but the defender rejected the approach.
The centre-back has already given his word to Dortmund and has agreed on a contract worth €6m per season.
The deal will be finalised soon and the defender is on his way to Westfalenstadion in the summer.
