Games are running out in the Premier League this season as the Whites look to avoid relegation and getting something against the Blues would boost their chances.

Defeat in the game would see them stuck in the relegation zone, but even a point would see them above Burnley and out of the bottom three, at least until the weekend when the Clarets take on their own Champions League-chasing opponents in Tottenham Hotspur.

Whelan is excited about the game and called it a huge one for his former club as they look leapfrog over their rivals.

The ex-Whites star has also implored the Leeds supporters going to Elland Road to get fully behind the team and keep the stadium rocking, while also insisting that that the Yorkshire club are ready to take on Chelsea.

Taking to Twitter, Whelan wrote: “It’s on like donkey kong.

“Leeds v Chelsea , huge match.

“Bring them on and bring on the Leeds noise MOT.”

Chelsea for themselves will be looking to avoid defeat and allow their rivals to have a shot at Champions League football at their expense.

The Leeds supporters are famed for the atmosphere they create for Elland Road.
