The 36-year-old decided to hang up his boots earlier this week, drawing the curtains on an illustrious career, with the majority of his time spent at Parkhead.

Celtic legend Brown is keen to transition into a career in management and has been finalising his coaching badges.

The former midfielder emerged as a shock candidate in the running for the vacant managerial role at English League One side Fleetwood.

And Brown is now set to take the reins at the Highbury Stadium, having departed Aberdeen, where he was serving in a player-coach role.

Current Dunfermline boss Stephen Whittaker will serve as number two to Brown in the Fleetwood dugout.

Fleetwood had a tough run in League One, finishing the recently concluded campaign in 20th.

The Cod Army will hope a young manager in Brown can lead them to a higher finish next term, with a pre-season tour in Croatia already scheduled for the summer.
