The Hammers failed with their efforts to sign a new centre-back in January, but boss David Moyes is keen to strengthen that position in the forthcoming window.

West Ham have had to deal with injuries to several of their centre-halves in the current campaign, including Angelo Ogbonna, who has picked up a knee injury and is expected to be out for a significant spell.

The capital club are in the process of identifying potential centre-back targets and have rekindled their interest in a player that was on their transfer radar last summer in the shape of Aguerd.

West Ham boss Moyes is once again keen on the Rennes man and they could launch a summer swoop for him.

Aguerd signed a new deal at Rennes last summer and is contracted there until 2025.

However, the player is tipped to command a fee in the £20m range, should any potential suitors want to sign him.

It has been claimed that in addition to West Ham, Aguerd has also managed to catch the eye of several other Premier League with his performances in Ligue 1.
