Lis joined Turkish outfit Altay last summer but after one season with the club, where they were relegated from the Super Lig, he has now left the side.

The Turkish side, under a heavy financial burden, agreed to terminate the contract of the shot-stopper after they were unable to make contractual payments.

The goalkeeper made 35 league appearances in the season gone by and he could now be set to make a move to the Premier League.

Lis is close to signing a contract with Southampton ahead of next season, according to Turkish outlet TransferMerkez.

The Saints are letting Fraser Forster go and he is on the verge of joining Tottenham Hotspur.

Southampton signing Lis would add to their goalkeeping department in the aftermath of Forster leaving, if indeed the Saints sign him.

They could look to loan him out however.

In the goalkeeping department, the Saints have also been linked with Manchester City starlet Gavin Bazunu.
