Following a season where he scored 35 goals and 20 assists and was named the Bundesliga Player of the Year, he is being heavily linked with a departure from Leipzig; it has been claimed he does not want to sign a new contract.

Manchester United have their eyes on him since Ralf Rangnick recommended him and their interest has only grown stronger over the last few months.

The club are in the market for a versatile forward and Nkunku has emerged as a big target for the club.

And according to German broadcaster, Sky Sports Deutschland, Manchester United could table an offer with Leipzig next week.

They are deep in contact with the Frenchman’s camp and are pushing to take him to Old Trafford this summer.

It seems they have received encouragement from the player’s representatives to make a move but Leipzig still do not want to sell him.

The German club want to offer him a new contract but Nkunku is hesitant about signing fresh terms with the club.

Chelsea are also interested in the forward but for the moment, Manchester United are carrying out the legwork required to snare him away from Leipzig this summer.
