The 22-year-old striker has been Manchester United’s top attacking target but the club look set to lose out on him to their north west rivals.


Liverpool are rapidly progressing with their efforts to take Nunez to Merseyside and it has been suggested they have agreed on a fee with Benfica for his services.



Liverpool are now focusing on pushing the capture of Nunez over the line as they plan for life without Sadio Mane.


And according to Spanish outlet Relevo, Nunez has already told Klopp that he is keen to move to Anfield this summer.



The Liverpool manager has held take with the striker and has managed to convince him about the move.


Manchester United are still not out of the race but Liverpool are now the firm favourites to sign the Uruguayan this summer.



Nunez’s interest in playing in the Champions League has given Liverpool the impetus in the race.


With Mane set to leave, Liverpool are already on their way to making sure that his departure does not affect the quality of their forward line.
