The 22-year-old left-back has already made eleven appearances for the Netherlands on the international stage and has been tipped to leave Alkmaar this summer.

He is the club captain but there is a belief that Wijndal is prepared to move to a bigger club in the ongoing transfer window.

Several teams are believed to be keeping tabs on him, with Napoli and Sevilla are claimed to be interested in signing Wijndal as part of their summer strengthening plans.

According to Dutch daily De Telegraaf, Everton are also amongst the club who have an interest in getting their hands on Wijndal.

Frank Lampard wants to sign a left-back as part of his plans to strengthen the Everton squad this summer.

The Dutchman is one of the players the club are tracking with a view to signing him in the coming months.

However, Wijndal would prefer to stay in the Netherlands and play for another club before moving out of his homeland, which is likely to mean Everton will have work to do if they are to change his mind.

Ajax are interested in him and his preference to continue in the Netherlands plays into their hands.
