Spurs are working hard in the summer transfer market as they look to strengthen Conte’s hand ahead of next season.

A defender is on the agenda in north London and the club are keen on securing Lenglet from Barcelona.

Spurs are working on a loan deal for the Frenchman, with an option to then sign him on a permanent basis if he impresses, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato.

It is claimed that Lenglet is admired by both Conte and Paratici, ticking the boxes for what Spurs are looking for in a centre-back.

The club would pay a loan fee to take him away from the Camp Nou, giving Barcelona an injection of cash and allowing them to shed themselves of the player’s wages.

Lenglet made 21 appearances for Barcelona in La Liga last season, picking up four yellow cards in the process.

The 27-year-old has a further four years left to run on his contract at Barcelona, but the club are looking to offload him in the ongoing transfer window.
