The 21-year-old left-back, who has represented Argentina at Under-23 level, will be the first player from his nation to play for the Hoops.

The Argentinean has signed a five-year contract with Celtic following a standout stint with Lanus in the top division in his homeland.

Bernabei expressed his delight at the transfer to Celtic Park, which he feels looks incredible, and his pride at having achieved his ambition of playing in Europe.

The 21-year-old went on to say that he is excited to play in the Champions League and he has confidence in the team’s ability to do great things for the club.

“I feel proud to be playing in Europe because it was one of my dreams and I’m excited to train with and play with my new team-mates”, Bernabei told Celtic TV.

“The stadium is just incredible. The people, the club, team-mates, and the coaching staff are all incredible.

“I’m very excited and happy and I can’t wait to be playing in the Champions League”, he added.

“This is my first time in Scotland and Glasgow and I’ve seen the city on the internet and it looks very beautiful, so I’m excited to be able to get to know it more.

“The objective is to become champion and we want to achieve big things as a club and I would like to achieve all of our objectives this year.”

Celtic are heading to Austria for a pre-season training camp and friendlies, with all eyes now sure to be on when Bernabei takes to the pitch for the Bhoys.
