The Gers are on the verge of sealing a move for Ridvan Yilmaz from Besiktas having already signed no fewer than six new players this summer.
Yilmaz is set to add to Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s options at left-back, following the departure of Calvin Bassey, but the Dutchman remains keen on bolstering his midfield.
Van Bronckhorst wants a new holding midfielder and Rangers have identified another player from Besiktas in the shape of Kartal as a potential target.
And according to Turkish daily Sabah, the Gers have contacted the 21-year-old over a move to Ibrox in the ongoing window.
Rangers are tipped to sit at the negotiating table with the Besiktas hierarchy to discuss a possible move for Kartal.
It has been suggested that Kartal, who rose through the ranks at the Vodafone Park Arena, is worth a fee in the €1m range.
Rangers have funds to spent on transfers and it remains to be seen whether they will go in with an official bid for the midfielder.
