Werner has struggled to settle at Stamford Bridge since joining Chelsea in 2020 and has failed to translate his prolific form in front of goal in the Bundesliga to the Premier League.

There are suggestions that the German is considering his future at Chelsea and could be open to a move away this summer.

Werner would reportedly prefer to return to his old hunting ground in RB Leipzig, but it has been claimed that he has suitors in the Premier League.

According to German daily Bild, Newcastle are interested in taking him to St. James’ Park in the ongoing transfer window.

The Magpies want to sign a versatile forward but have been priced out of moves for several players such as Alexander Isak and Moussa Diaby.

Werner is a player Newcastle are interested in and he has the ability to play both as a number 9 and on the flanks.

Newcastle are yet to open talks with Chelsea who are having their own struggles in the market this summer.

It remains to be seen whether Thomas Tuchel would be open to letting Werner go without getting a replacement.
