Antony is a big target for Manchester United and he has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Both the player and the Red Devils are keen on a transfer, but Ajax do not want to lose him and their €80m asking price has scared Manchester United away for the time being.

But efforts are still on behind the scenes to take the Brazilian to Old Trafford and Schreuder conceded that he is not 100 per cent certain about keeping the player with the Dutch champions.

He does not want to lose Antony at any price and feels that already too many players have been sold this summer.

Schreuder told Dutch daily De Telegraaf: “As a coach, you never know for sure.

“But internally we have expressed that we want to keep this squad together.

“Whether he only leaves for the absolute top price, because we don’t have to sell? I hope he doesn’t get sold at all.

“He is the right age and we just need his threat. This group have had so many changes already.”

The Ajax coach insisted that the club are aware of what he wants but conceded that he is not the top man making decisions at the club.

“I don’t want to go that far because I think you should always do things in consultation.

“Everyone at Ajax knows my opinion and point of view but I am not the boss at the club.”

Schreuder stressed that Antony has been professional behind the scenes and there is nothing to suggest that he is trying to force a transfer.

“He is training well and wants to play.

“So, I don’t feel like he is in the process of getting a transfer.”
