Maddison is wanted by Newcastle, who have already had a bid for his services rejected and are now in with a fresh proposal.

Leicester do not want to sell the attacking midfielder, but Newcastle believe the player is keen to make the switch to St James’ Park.

Talks between the two clubs are taking place as Newcastle hope to find common ground, but amid the discussions, Leicester have shown an interest in Dubravka.

The Foxes are in the market to sign a goalkeeper, with Kasper Schmeichel expected to join French Ligue 1 outfit Nice.

There is no suggestion at present that Dubravka would be part of a package to take Maddison to the north east.

However, that could change, with Leicester needing a new goalkeeper.

Newcastle signed another goalkeeper earlier this summer in the shape of Nick Pope and he is tipped to be the club’s number 1 this term.
