Onana has been a big target for David Moyes as he wants more options in midfielder ahead of another season in Europe.

The West Ham boss wants more strength in depth in his squad and Onana is a young talent he has been pushing to sign.

But West Ham’s initial bid of €23m could not cut the mustard and it was swiftly rejected by French outfit Lille.

However, West Ham are far from giving up on the pursuit of Onana and according to French outlet Foot Mercato, they are still in contact with Lille.

The talks are still ongoing and West Ham are trying to understand at what fee the French club would be prepared to sell.

The midfielder is a big talent and Lille would prefer to hold on to him for one more season but West Ham are pushing.

It has been claimed that the Hammers are now considering putting in another bid to test Lille’s resolve.

Onana is believed to be keen on the move but is waiting for the two clubs to find an agreement for his transfer.
