Despite being debt-ridden, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has been able to pull some financial levers which has ensured that the club are able to spend big money on player recruitment in the ongoing window.

Barcelona are pushing on with their recruitment drive and are currently in talks with Manchester City over a deal for Silva, who has been on their transfer radar for some time.

The Citizens are seeking a fee in the €80m range for Silva and Barcelona are trying to lower their asking price.

And according to Catalunya based daily Sport, Silva is putting pressure on Manchester City to sanction his sale to the Blaugrana.

The Portuguese has his heart set to joining Barcelona and is claimed to be begging the Premier League champions to allow him to leave while he is also not happy living in Manchester.

Barcelona have promised Silva that will sign him in the ongoing window and they currently have enough financial resources to push through a deal even without Frenkie de Jong leaving Camp Nou.

The La Liga giants are optimistic about their chances of securing Silva’s services and could even sign him before they seal a deal for Marcos Alonso, who they are closing in on snaring away from Chelsea.

Pep Guardiola has admitted he is unsure on Silva’s future, while Barcelona are claimed to have told the Citizens to expect a bid.
