Frank Lampard is keen for midfield options and is set to complete the signing of Amadou Onana from Lille after seeing off competition from West Ham.

He also wants former Toffees star Gueye, who Paris Saint-Germain are keen to move on, and a switch to Merseyside is advanced for the 32-year-old.

However, Everton do still have some minor details they need to iron out before the transfer can go through; Gueye is expected for a medical soon.

It is expected to be completed however and Gueye will return to the club he left in 2019 to sign for PSG.

Nottingham Forest also made a move to bring Gueye back to the Premier League.

The midfielder though rejected a proposal from the City Ground and wants to rejoin Everton, where he flourished.

Gueye will be aiming for regular first team football at Goodison Park as Lampard tries to build a side that can steer well clear of relegation.
