The Tricky Trees were unable to mark their first game back in the Premier League following a 23-year gap with a win as they fell to a 2-0 defeat against the Magpies at the weekend.

St James’ Park was bouncing on the opening day of the Premier League and Eddie Howe’s men were able to send their fans back happy, but it meant the Nottingham Forest players had a tough day at work.

Nottingham Forest skipper Worrall has admitted that the atmosphere inside St James’ Park was fierce and thinks getting three points was always going to be tough.

But Worrall urged the fans of the Nottinghamshire giants to stick with them throughout this season as they look to ensure that they do not drop right back into the Championship.

“Forest back in the Premier League”, Worrall wrote on Twitter.

“We know the performance never warranted points, but to step out in that atmosphere; away from home for the return back in the big league was always going to be a tough ask.

“Thank you for your kind messages of support.

“Stick with us.”

Nottingham Forest are still on the lookout for more signings this summer, while they will host West Ham United on Sunday at the City Ground in their first home game of the season.
