Tottenham have been in talks with Roma over taking the winger to north London in the ongoing transfer window.

Antonio Conte likes the Italy winger and wants to add him to his Spurs squad before the window shuts on 1st September.

But it seems Mourinho’s insistence on keeping Zaniolo at Roma is set to pay off and it has been claimed that there is now a pact between the player and the Giallorossi coach.

According to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport, the Roma boss has convinced the player to sign a new deal and stay at Roma for one more year at least.

It has been claimed that if Zaniolo still wants to leave at the end of next season, Mourinho will not stand in his way.

It has been claimed that the two clubs were on the verge of agreeing on a deal last week for the winger to move to Tottenham on loan with a purchase option worth €50m.

But the Roma coach’s intervention and Zaniolo’s willingness to stay at the club for one more season changed the circumstances.

Roma have now told Tottenham that if they want to sign the winger this summer they would have to pay €50m with no option of an initial loan.

Spurs are not prepared to do such a deal and the Italian is now set to stay at Roma for one more season.
